Culbokie Community Orienteering Event - Volunteers needed

02 February 2020

Starts: 11:30

Culbokie Wood      from 11.30

Planning is in full swing for the Community Orienteering Event on 2nd February. There will be 4 different courses to suit all ages and abilities. Staggered starts between 11:30am and 1:30pm. Just turn up between these times. No booking required. Our thanks to Tulloch Homes for supporting this event.
  • There will be a fairly straightforward point to point course ideal for beginners and younger family groups.
  • A “score” course where you have to find as many controls as possible, and get back to the start, within 45 minutes.
  • For those wanting a serious challenge there will be a longer score course covering the whole of Culbokie Wood with twice as many controls to visit but only an hour to do it.
  • And there will be a “string” course where toddlers try to follow a short, set route through the trees.

We are desperate for volunteers to make this happen though. They don’t need to know anything about orienteering but there is still scope to help and participate. We need a couple of first-aiders for example and people who can direct participants at the start area and keep them safe from manoeuvring cars. Please contact orienteering@culbokiect.org if you can help or need more information.

'Thick Skin, Elastic Heart' Stables Cromarty 8.00

02 February 2020

Starts: 20:00

A Cromarty Arts Trust event

Sunday 2 February, 8.00pm (doors 7.30pm)
The Stables, Cromarty
£10 (£6 students, school-aged, unwaged)

From porn addiction to miscarriages to mental health to queer identity, this darkly comedic show is about the overwhelming pressure of high societal expectations and constant digital connection.  Putting Millennial voices to the front in all their over-sharing glory, thick skin, elastic heart explores life in modern Britain for a generation that is frequently reduced to a sound-bite in mass media as ineffectual, lazy, oversensitive 'snowflakes'.

With a support slot from Cromarty's own talented young singer-songwriter,  LILY MAY MULLERY

Suitable for age 14+

Buy on the door or in advance: email / 01381 600354

(On at Eden Court the night before - but cheaper and more intimate in Cromarty!)

We are part of the rapidly expanding worldwide Transition Towns movement. The Black Isle is a peninsula of about 100 sq miles ENE of Inverness in Scotland, UK.
